Sports Info

The BUCS domestic programme continues to grow with more teams and individuals competing in university sport than ever before.

Representing your institution in BUCS competition is a proud moment for any student, and there are 47 sports in which students can do this and earn BUCS points for their university. Some will even be lucky enough to compete in world class venues, such as Twickenham Stadium where our Rugby Championship finals are held every year.

For those who choose individual sports, BUCS Nationals is the highlight of the season for many. BUCS Nationals in its sixth year in 2018, is the largest annual multi-sport event in the UK attracting over 6000 athletes to compete for national honours. BUCS Big Wednesday is the culmination of the leagues and knockouts season with Championship and Trophy finals in 14 sports all being played on one day and at one venue.

Across the 47 domestic BUCS sports, students are not only competing for their university/college team in a specific Championship, but also for the chance to boost the position for their institution in the BUCS league table. For a breakdown of the BUCS Points available for our competitions please see Appendix 1.

We are also working to provide more opportunities for students to play sport, and in 2013 launched LUSL (the London University Sports League) that enabled universities within the London Region to compete locally outside of our national domestic programme.

To find out what opportunities there are within your sport choose your sport from those listed on the left had side of this page or choose General Sports Information to find lots of important information relating to our domestic sporting programme...
