Role Description: The University of York Women’s Rugby team is a highly competitive and well-established team which competes in North 1 and North 3B, as well as having development options for new players.

The club's outstanding reputation and commendation within the university are evident, exemplified by the numerous awards the club has won. Following on from COVID, the club received Team of the Year 2022 (1XV), highly commended Club of the Year (2022) as well as highly commended Club for Equal Opportunities (2022) for our introduction of a competing 3rd team for the first time in Roses history in 2022.

Building upon our success, our membership exceeded 50 last season, and there are hopes we can continue this membership intake next season.

We are seeking a coach who shares our drive to capitalise on the club's accomplished legacy in the upcoming year and beyond, while also nurturing the growth of all our players across both the 1XV and the 2XV.

Training is primarily on 22 Acres, located on Campus West of the university, with sessions also taking place on Campus East on a 3G pitch. Training times are to be confirmed closer to the season, however, most recent time ranges were between 13:00-16:00 and 18:00-22:00. We train on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday, with BUCS game days on Wednesday in various locations.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Attend all BUCS game days which take place on a Wednesday, both home and away

Work alongside Captains to structure training sessions which are challenging and beneficial to both teams

Select a well-formed and fair match day squad using a given selection policy as agreed with by the Captains

Must be willing to work on individual skill sets for both teams

Must have flexible schedule for availability due to the nature of training times

Skills & Experience:

Minimum Level 2 England Rugby Coaching award

Must have knowledge of all positions (including forwards and backs) and be able to help progression within these positions

Able to communicate with all members of the club, this includes having conversations about individual development and targets as a whole

Must be able to work alongside other coaching staff to produce effective and challenging training sessions
