St Mary’s was rated in the top 4 universities for sport in 2019 by Which? and aims to maximise student engagement in sporting activity by increasing participation and sporting excellence, utilising our world class sports facilities.
The St Mary’s University Men’s Rugby Union Club has two teams that compete in the BUCS league structure, with the first team competing in the BUCS Premier South B division.
In recent years, several players from the club have been selected for English Universities, England 7s Academy, or have gone onto play for professional clubs in England and abroad.
The University has recently announced an exciting partnership with Richmond FC that will seek to support the development of the clubs’ coaches and share resources and best practice across both partners, making this an exciting time to be part of the club’s journey.
We are looking for a proactive coach who can drive the performance of the 1st team squad, competing at one of the highest levels within university rugby union. Integrating new players into the team and embedding a strong club-wide ethos with positive values will be key to the role.
The club also compete in the BUCS Rugby Sevens competition, usually in April/May, so the coach should be able to deliver relevant sessions leading up to this event.
