Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced recreational sport professional to lead our Recreational Sport Programme at Queen Mary Students' Union.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on student wellbeing and participation in physical activity, working in a vibrant, democratic, and student-led environment. In this hands-on and rewarding role, you will deliver an inclusive, student-focused programme across three key contexts.
On campus, you'll coordinate weekly activities, social leagues, and beginner-friendly sessions that make sport accessible to everyone.
In the community, you'll deliver recreational sport in local schools and community groups, building meaningful partnerships that extend our impact beyond campus.
During holiday periods, you'll manage low-cost children's sports camps, providing valuable opportunities for young people while creating work experience for our student volunteers.
Your day-to-day work will be diverse and engaging. You'll plan and deliver accessible activities including Pay & Play sessions, Learn to workshops, and women-only programming, ensuring there's something for everyone regardless of experience or ability.
A key part of your role will be using participation data to identify and engage inactive and underrepresented students, developing creative outreach strategies that break down barriers to participation.
You'll recruit, train, and manage student volunteers and activators who support programme delivery, building a motivated team that shares your passion for inclusive sport.
You'll also signpost these volunteers to Sport Employability Academy funding opportunities, helping them develop valuable skills while supporting our mission.
Building partnerships with community organisations will be essential, as will managing programme budgets and developing marketing strategies to promote activities and increase participation.
