This is a hugely exciting time to be joining the King’s Sport and Wellness team at King’s College London as we look to begin the next stage of our delivery from 2022-2025, supporting our community to be their personal best.
This post will play a key role in the delivery of our social wellness activity and all holistic wellness activity across sites with specific responsibility for wellness activity in residences and Strand and Waterloo campuses.
The post holder will contribute to the departments mission to deliver unique sport and wellness experiences that unite our community and optimise our people and potential.
The post holder will be responsible for the coordination and development of a number of wellness projects and events with an aim to improve the social wellness of Kings and the wider London community.
Focusing on the wellness experience of the customer, the post holder will work with the wellness coordinators and Gym site supervisors to ensure our online delivery is efficient, inclusive and engaging for the whole Kings community.
Working cross-functionally the post holder will develop relationships with faculties, departments, professional services and external partners to provide support and innovative opportunities to maximise the reach and impact of our wellness programmes.
This post will be offered on an indefinite contract

Key responsibilities:
- Deliver the day-to-day programme coordination of our residences wellness programme and wellness delivery across campuses
- Lead on large scale, mass engagement events across the University community, bringing people together through shared transformative experiences.
- Deliver events focussed on social wellness and other holistic wellness support.
- Coordinating staff, venues, budget, equipment etc.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with key internal and external staff and delivery partners, relevant national governing body and other organisations including departments and faculties, residences, student experience managers, Health centre and Mental health services, Sport England, Student clubs and societies Manage a team of instructors, activators and volunteers.
- Communicating a clear vision for the team, agree tasks and objectives, organise and delegate work, giving general guidance and overall direction.
- Develop, with our Marketing and Design Coordinator, any necessary communications and marketing plans for promotion of our programmes and community activity.
- Work alongside the Wellness Coordinators to support wellness across the department.
- Regularly demonstrate the impact of the programme on the wellness (Physical, mental, social) of the Kings community
- To sustain, improve and grow our community wellness events and projects. e.g. Active Wellness Scheme, Move your Mind, Connect & Learn, University Mental Health Awareness day
- Seek out and act on feedback from students, staff, partners and external bodies to improve the service of our programmes
- To monitor financial performance against budget targets of income and expenditure on a monthly basis, reporting back to King’s Sport management and forecasting any financial risk or opportunities.
- To be responsible for the Health & Safety aspects of the programme delivery.
- Champion and advocate for diversity and inclusion as an imperative for King’s, and work to identify and remove the barriers to inclusion and progression for underrepresented groups.
- Ensure business practices are aligned and support King’s ambition to continue to work towards protecting the environment
- Effectively use King’s Sport IT systems in place to gather and manipulate data so that it can be interpreted by others, including participation data of the programme, which will be reported both internally and externally.
- Attend King’s Sport Partnership and University meetings and prepare detailed written and verbal reports and presentation for a range of key internal and external audiences.
- Identify external funding opportunities, to develop our range of programmes and services that meets the needs of a diverse London community
- Any further duties, which may reasonably be required by the line manager or Head of Department commensurate with the grade

Skills, knowledge, and experience:
Essential criteria:
- Commitment to continual professional development in the area of wellness & physical activity
- Experience of monitoring & evaluation
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal the ability to deal effectively with students, coaches and sports development staff
- Excellent project management organisational skills
- Experience of organizing or delivering events
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritise work effectively in order to achieve short, medium and long term objectives
- Experience of leading and developing a workforce
- Substantial experience of physical activity or wellness in higher education or similar organisation
- Experience of partnership working, developing and managing relationships
Desirable criteria:
- Coaching or Instructor qualification
- Ability to cover and/or lead sessions in the absence of Activators/Session Leaders
