Club Culture: Initiations, hazing, dangerous behaviours and sexual harassment in higher education sport and active participation.

The British Universities and Colleges Sport Club Culture summit at Woburn House Conference Centre will bring together member institutions with wider stakeholders from the sport and education sectors to agree the next steps in addressing the issues that underpin and arise from initiations, hazing, dangerous behaviours and sexual harassment in higher education sport and active participation.

Whilst the landmark Universities UK 'Initiations at UK Universities' report was a watershed moment leading to institutions taking significant steps in recent years, the issue remains endemic in the sub-culture of higher education sport and BUCS along with its members is keen to take further action to support positive, safe, healthy and happy student sport experiences.

Shaped by members of the BUCS Senior Managers and Student Officers networks and aligned with BUCS transformative work in student safeguarding in higher education sport in recent seasons, this summit will convene key voices to galvanise further action.

The summit aims to provide a safe space encouraging openness and transparent conversation, and drive cross-sector collaboration to addressing this issue and reducing harm.

Tickets for the summit are free but limited.

We encourage institutions to consider attendance of colleagues in a range of roles suitable to support positive and open discussion and follow-up action. This may include the Head or Director of Sport, Student Sabbatical Officer, Student Wellbeing lead, Safeguarding Officer, Students Union leadership, University Senior Leadership.

Initially due to capacity, institutions are limited to two spaces.
