Women's Individual Championship

Competitions & BUCS Points Available

The entry fee includes an individual competition and a team competition.

Individual Championship
 ● Single elimination throughout
 ● Match distances increase as the competition progresses
 ● Lag for first break then alternate breaks through to the end of the match
 ● There are BUCS medals, BUCS points (see Appendix 1 here) and prizemoney for this competition
 ● Competitors who are part of their institution’s first team or who are entering the event without a team will, without exception, play in this competition

Individual Trophy
 ● Single elimination throughout
 ● Match distances increase as the competition progresses
 ● Lag for first break then alternate breaks through to the end of the match
 ● There are BUCS medals for this competition, but no BUCS points or prizemoney
 ● Competitors who are part of a team which is not their institution’s first team will, by default, play in this competition. Such players may opt to compete in the Individual Championship instead of the Individual Trophy, but this can only be done by indicating this on the Team Information form supplied to UPC by the institution’s main contact.
 ● The Individual Trophy will only take place if the size of its field is at least sixteen competitors AND constitutes at least 20% of the overall entry into the event. If the Individual Trophy does not take place then all competitors will play in the Individual Championship.

Team Championship & Team Trophy
 ● One single “round-robin” group stage for both competitions
 ● Subject to having won or drawn at least one match, the top two first teams from each group progress to the Team Championship single-elimination playoffs
 ● The next highest two teams (of any denomination) from each group progress to the Team Trophy single-elimination playoffs
 ● All matches are the best of ten frames, except playoff matches where a further best of three frames are played in and only in the case of a five-all draw (giving a total of the best of thirteen frames). Each frame consists of one player from one team playing against one player from the other team. The two players playing the first frame lag for which team breaks first then alternate breaks through to the end of the match. The winner of a match is the team that wins the most frames, or in the case of a group-stage match finishing five-all the result stands as a draw
 ● There are BUCS medals, BUCS points (see Appendix 1 here) and prizemoney for both of theseompetitions

Team Shield & Team Vase
 ● One single “round-robin” group stage for both competitions
 ● The top two teams (of any denomination) from each group progress to the Team Shield single-elimination playoffs
 ● The next highest team (of any denomination) from each group progress to the Team Vase single-elimination playoffs
