Event Guide

Location

Saturday’s orienteering will take place at Big Moor and Sunday’s orienteering will take place at Wharncliffe Woods. 

Accepted Entries

Accepted entries will be confirmed to all universities with the distribution of the start sheets (see next tab). 

Start Sheet

For the individual event, men’s and women’s A classes will be allocated start times based on the BOF rankings of the competitors, with the highest ranked runners going off last. These will be circulated to teams prior to the event, and there will be printed copies at registration on the day. For B and C courses, start times will be allocated at random within the start window. 

Registration

Registration will be at Cliff College (S32 3XG) for the individual events. There will also be a registration centre for the relays, with the exact location TBC subject to parking and equipment discussions.

Timetable

Individual

Start times will be from 12:30-14:30, with courses closing at 4pm. There is a 2km uphill walk to the start from parking, so please allow time for this to reach the start in time.

Relay

Men’s relay mass start at 10:00am with the women’s relay mass starting at 10:05am. Ad-Hoc relay mass will start at 10:10am (this relay will be on the same courses as the women’s relay, and is designed for people who have entered the relay event but have been unable to form a same sex team within their university to run an unofficial race which will not count towards BUCS points)

Parking

There will be free parking available for all competitors on both days.

For the individuals, parking will be located at Cliff College, Cliff Lane, Hope Valley, S32 3XG.

Relay parking is currently TBC, with details to be circulated to competitors prior to the event in the final details document. 

Accommodation

Accommodation logistics are being finalised and will be confirmed in the final details document to all competitors. 

Food and Drink

There are plenty of food and drink options around the areas, and also in the centre of Sheffield where teams will be based.

There will be an evening meal/social on the Saturday, hosted at INOX in the Sheffield Students’ Union building. 

Event Sponsors

Prizes to be provided by club sponsors High5 and Str8 compasses. 

Presentation

Prize giving for the individual events will be at Cliff College at around 4pm on the Saturday. BUCS medals and sponsored prizes will be given to the top three on all courses (men’s and women’s A, B and C). 

Prize giving for the relay events will take place on conclusion of the event. The top three teams on the men’s and women’s relay will be given BUCS medals and sponsored prizes. 

Clothing

Please wear full leg and torso covers. Depending on the weather forecast, cagoules and whistles may be made compulsory up to and including on the day so please be prepared and bring these.
