Championship Structure

The top two teams from each group shall progress to semi-final matches. The first placed team in Group 1 will face the second placed team in Group 2, and vice versa. The winners of these matches will progress to the final and the losing teams will progress to a 3rd/4th place playoff match.

Teams finishing in third place or below in their group will progress to a placement match against the team finishing in the equivalent position in the other group.

Division allocation

Only 1st teams will be permitted to compete in the Championship divisions.

Teams that took part in the previous season’s Championships will be allocated to divisions based on their finishing positions in that Championships.

All new teams entering the Championships shall be allocated to the lowest division.

Prior to the entry deadline at the point of entry teams can request to be allocated to a specific division if they feel that their current level of players will not be appropriate for their anticipated division.

If you wish to request a change please email James Francis and outline your reasons behind the request. This will be based onto England Handball for confirmation.

Officials and Referees

Each team is required to provide two referees. In all matches where tournament appointed referees are not supplied, individuals provided by teams will be expected to referee. These individuals do not have to hold a formal qualification and will be mentored throughout the weekend by England Handball Referee Developers and Assessors as part of ongoing CPD towards future qualification (England Handball Referee Level 2/3).

The losing team from each match will be required to provide table officials for the following match. These individuals do not have to hold a formal qualification.

The deadline for nominating these officials will be two weeks before the event (11th March 2022).

To access this form, please be sure to head here where the form will be populated.

Any questions regarding this, please email James Francis as we will be updating this closer to the event.
