Registration

We have 2 registration windows. You can register the day before race-day between 2-9pm on Saturday 13th November. You can also register on the day from 6.00am. We recommend you register no later than 30mins before your start as you will need time to rack/setup your transition space and get to the start 15mins before your start time. Your race pack includes:

  • Timing Chip (put this round your left ankle for the duration of the race)
  • 2 race numbers (to be displayed one on your front for the run and one on your back for the bike, race belts can be used to make this easier)
  • Bike and helmet race number stickers

BTF members will need to show evidence of BTF membership. Please double-check that you have everything you need in your pack.

Race Information

Chip Timing

The race will be chip-timed. Your timing chip will be in your race packet collected at registration. Velcro timing chips will attach to your LEFT ankle and are to be worn for the duration of the race. The chip will be collected at the finish line.
If you have to drop out of the race, you will need to report to the timing trailer as a DNF (and to let us know that you are safely off the course). You will need to return your chip at this time. If you are competing in multiple races, you will need to keep the same timing chip for all races.

We use Titanium Race Timing for our events.  You can get live results through the day showing your time, splits and position. For online race results, please click this link

Transition

The Transition Area will open at 6:30 a.m. and will close after the race.
The race circuit will not be open for participants to warm up, however, there will be ample space in the paddock area to warm up. Ensure you are back at the start holding area 15mins prior to race start! There will be a mandatory pre-race line-up 15 minutes before each race next to the lake on the grassed area in front of the cabins.

Only athletes are allowed into transition area, please have your number stickers on your bike and helmet and enter transition wearing your helmet, your race number must also be visible. We will have a sufficient number of marshals in transition to assist athletes if needed.

To enter transition to setup, you must go through transition security entrance/exit ONLY, please do not enter or exit through swim/in, bike in/out or run out gates. Please only do this once, so ensure you have everything ready before heading out of transition once setup.

Racking will be assigned by race number, please rack your bike with handlebars facing away from the number. When finished setting up in transition, you cannot leave bags in the transition area, please either return it to your vehicle or you can place them in the cabins at the pre-start holding area, these will be unmanned.

You cannot mark your place in transition with any flags, bike lights, talcum powder, balloons or very bright towels! Please be aware that this is a live transition throughout the day, there will be competitors racing whilst you are setting up/clearing away. Please give way to them and feel free to offer some encouragement.

Race Numbers

You are required to display your race number at all times while competing. This is for your safety.
Even though the race is chip timed, you need to display your number for the entire race. During the bike section, your number must be displayed on your back plus on your bike using the specific bike and helmet number stickers you are given at registration. During the run, you must wear your race number on your front. This is especially important for the finish.

A good option is to use a race number belt that you can clip and unclip very easily. The worst thing that you could do is pin your number to the outside of a jacket and then leave that jacket in the transition area (because you’ll have to go back and get it before you finish!). If you are doing multiple races, you will use the same race number.

Race Day Rules

This event has been permitted by the British Triathlon Federation. This permit will be on display at registration. To allow for safe and fair racing, all rules will be followed and enforced. This event will be a NON-DRAFTING race. If you are unsure on the rules for this race, please take the time to review the BTF rules and regulations. The rules can be found here

We will have multiple BTF Technical Official onsite including a moto-official. The TO is there to ensure rules and regulations are followed. If at any time the TO speaks to you or tells you to stop doing something, please listen to them, it will be in your best interest. Safety will always come first; we want everyone to finish the race with a legitimate time without any time penalties or disqualifications. In the interest of safety and fair racing, if a rule is broken, you may be asked to stand still for a period of time. If a rule is repeatedly broken, you may be disqualified.

Given the technical bike course, I would like to refer you to the competition rules of drafting. Please read these rules, specifically rule 5.5c of the BTF Competition Rules. The TO’s are very experienced and will be pragmatic with their approach. As there is a moto-official please note that you cannot draft the moto, this is a 12m no draft zone. Other competitors are 10m no draft zone.

Some other key rules include:

·       Do not impede another competitor during the race

·       Do not touch your bike before securing your helmet in transition

·       Do not mount your bike until after the mount line

·       Ensure you dismount your bike before the dismount line

·       Do not litter anywhere on the course except in designated litter areas

·       Do not abuse Technical Officials, volunteers or other participants

·       No earphones used during the race

Course Information

Pre-Race Warm Up
We highly recommend warming up prior to your line-up (15mins before race start). The paddock is open for warm up only.

Start
After any last briefings in the pre-start holding area, you will be told to make your way to the start line.

Regular time warnings will be given until you hear ‘on your marks’ followed by the start horn given by the race director.

All athletes must be set-up, and in attendance at the pre-race line-up in order to compete. Late arrivals will be prohibited from starting for safety purposes.

Run Course (Run 1 - 4 laps 5km, Run 2 - 2 laps 2.5km)
The route will be coned and signposted. The ground is smooth tarmac. Complete 4 laps of the run course. When you have completed 4 laps, run into transition. For run 2, complete 2 laps (2.5km) before running to the finish line.

Transition

You will enter transition by following the RUN IN’ sign after Run 1 and ‘BIKE IN’ sign after the bike leg. The flow in transition is always the same direction, so you always enter the same end and exit the opposite end. You must re-rack your bike in the same spot where it was originally located after you return from the bike leg.

You will be assigned to a racking space according to your race number. If you put your bike in the incorrect spot after your bike leg, you may incur a time penalty; though we will try to notify you. No one is allowed into the Transition Area except for athletes and race staff /volunteers.

Bike Course (18km)
Pass the mount line, ride onto the pit lane and merge with the adjoining traffic before the first hairpin bend. You will complete 6 laps then turn into the dismount line funnel. Please count your own laps. On your last lap, turn into the dismount funnel (signposted), head towards the dismount line near transition area.
When you finish the ride, you must dismount your bike before the dismount line.

Remember - rack your bike back in your assigned spot!
