- Women's Clay Pigeon Shooting Championship
Overall team points are available for a men's team and a women's team based on extracted scores from the individual competition. Team positions are awarded based on the total of an institution's top 4 individual scores (minimum of 2 individuals).
Please read BUCS Appendix 1 in conjunction with BUCS Regulation 6 for BUCS Points available.
Entry Allowance
Institutions are permitted an unlimited number of non-guaranteed entries. Should the event reach capacity, currently students will take priority over alumni entries. Should BUCS need to restrict entries further, this will be done fairly across institutions.
No entries will be accepted after the entry deadline.
Experience Required
It is expected that all competitors will be experienced enough to handle a shotgun safely and proficiently to shoot 100 clays in a competition format without tuition. This is imperative for the safety of everyone and the time constraints of the competition. The ground has the right to stop anyone from shooting the competition, with no refund, if they do not think a suitable level of competence is being adhered to.

Competition Format
Each competitor will shoot 100 birds over 13 stands in squads of 6.
Once your squad has started the competition, you will work through the course in order of stands e.g. 1-2-3-4 etc through to 13. You will have to complete the course before returning to the club house.
The event will take place over two days with each squad only being required to shoot on one day. You will be able to select your top two preferences for shooting times on the BUCS Play entry form. Where possible, BUCS will allocate days and times based on these preferences, however due to safety restrictions it may not be possible to accommodate all preferences. Competitors may be allocated a shooting time on either day; therefore, competitors will need to be available for both the Saturday and Sunday of the competition.
Competition days and start times will be confirmed in the entry guide once entries have closed.
Squadding
Competitors will be divided into squads for the duration of the competition. Institutions administrators will be required to rank competitors on BUCS Play into squads of six using the ranking system below.
Institution Administrators:
Please squad your team by writing '1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1' in the ranking boxes next to one squad, '2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2' in the ranking boxes next to squad two, '3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3' in the ranking boxes next to squad three, and so on.
At least one person per squad must be a license holder to be responsible for any non-licence holders in that group.
BUCS will try to accommodate these squad requests wherever possible, but we cannot guarantee that first preferences will be possible. If you are entering competitors as individuals, or as a squad of less than six competitors, you will be merged with other universities. Please note, this does not affect your team score as these are extracted from your individual performance, not your performance as a whole squad.
Squadding lists will be available by 5pm Friday 15 November 2024. Please monitor for any changes.
License Holders
At least one person per squad must hold a shotgun certificate/license and will be responsible for any non-licence holders in that group.
If there are less than 6 in your squad and one of you has a licence, you may be allocated other participants to be responsible for from other institutions.
You may also be allocated a different squad to ensure that there are enough participants with licences per squad so that everyone can shoot. Where possible we will try and make sure that each squad is full and that there are at least 2 members from the same university in each squad.
You must bring your license to registration at the event. If you forget your license you will be required to compete as a non-license holder which will cause issues with squadding.
Non-License Holders
If you do not hold a Shotgun Certificate you will not be allowed to shoot unless you read the following notice prior to acknowledging it on entry.
Anyone who is a Prohibited persons as defined by Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 (if known) must not be permitted to be in possession of guns or ammunition.
As a non-licence holder, you need to be supervised by a licence holder. If you do not have a licence holder within your group, your squad may be split so that you are in a squad with a licence holder.
If you are entering as an individual without a licence, you will be allocated a squad with a licence holder. It will be your responsibility in this case to ensure the license holder is happy to lend his or her gun to you in these circumstances.
Equipment
Doveridge will not be responsible for the lending or distribution of any shotguns between universities and license holders. This is solely at the responsibilities of individuals and universities where they are in mixed squads.
It is the responsibility of the team to ensure every competitor is shooting with hearing and eye protection, as per the Rules and Regulations. You will not be able to shoot without them.
Ear plugs will be available from the venue free of charge.
Eye protection will be available to hire from the venue with a refundable deposit of £10 on the day.
Cartridges will be available to purchase from the venue only by those with a valid shotgun certificate that can be shown upon purchase.
