Entry dates and costs

Entries open on Tuesday 8 October 2019. 
Entry costs £5.00 (BUCS entry fee).

Entries close on Thursday 24 October 2019 at 23:59 for students competitiors. 

Typically, Institution Administrator Approval Deadline is 48 hours after the student competitiors deadlines. This has been extended for this event to allow for confirmation of entries with British Rowing.

Students will know whether they have been approved by Thursday 31 October 2019 at 23:59.

 

Competition format

The competition will consist of the following categories for both men and women:

  • Championship 1x
  • Lightweight 1x
  • Championship 2-
The competition is a time trial over 5,000m (on water). Weigh-in will follow the requirements of the GBRT.

BUCS Points available

The following BUCS points and medals are available in each category:

  • 1st: 12 points and gold medal 
  • 2nd: 8 points and silver medal
  • 3rd: 6 points and bronze medal
  • 4th: 4 points

Team points are available for a men’s team and a women’s team. Team positions are awarded based on an institution’s top four placings across all event categories.

  • 1st: 20 points
  • 2nd: 14 points
  • 3rd: 10 points
  • 4th: 7 points
  • 5th: 5 points
  • 6th: 3 points
  • 7th: 2 points
  • 8th: 1 point

Entry allowance

Results for the BUCS Rowing Small Boats Head are extracted from the GB Rowing Team (GBRT) 1st Assessment 5km time trial (on water).

Entries for the GBRT 1st Assessment must be completed on the British Rowing Online Entry system as detailed on the British Rowing Senior & U23 Trials webpage.

Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis up to a safety limit agreed by the GBRT.

There is no limit on the number of competitors which an institution can enter into the BUCS Rowing Small Boats Head.

Entry process

To register for this event you must register with two organisations, British Rowing and on BUCS.

It is the responsibility of the institution and competitor(s) to read and follow the GBRT event information on the British Rowing Senior & U23 Trials webpage alongside the BUCS entry information to ensure they fulfil all GBRT obligations and enter correctly.

British Rowing Registration:

For an entry to be eligible the competitor(s) must have indicated ‘BUCS Eligible’ on the British Rowing Online Entry system and completed the GBRT 1st Assessment.

Any competitor entering on a ‘BUCS Only’ basis (i.e. not eligible for the GB Rowing Team 1st Assessment) must still be entered via the British Rowing Online Entry system to be registered for the event. Competitors must indicate ‘BUCS Only’ on the British Rowing Online Entry system.

BUCS will compare all entries received through BUCS Play with the GBRT results to ensure only those competitors who completed the 5km time trial (on water) are included. For competitors to be eligible for BUCS points and medals they must be entered on BUCS Play before the entry closing date.

BUCS Registration process:

To apply for this competition on BUCS Play:

  1. Competitor to complete competition application on BUCS Play
  2. Institution administrator approves entry
  3. BUCS approves/denies entry into competition and publishes confirmed entry list.
