Event Guide

Check-in

All participants will be required to check-in, including proof of student eligibility (student ID) & British Fencing membership.

Check-in will open at 9.30am, and closing times are as follows;

  • Epee - 10.00am
  • Foil - 10.30am
  • Sabre - 11.00am

NB: These are different to original check-in closing times. Please advise if you anticipate pre-booked travel causing issues with these.

Referees

All clubs are required to supply referees relative to event entries, as detailed in the entry information.

Referees will be asked to check-in with the Event Manager by 10.00am, and will be assigned poules for the day. Food and drink will be provided for all referees.

As per the entry information, failure to supply the correct number of referees relative to event entries will be subject to a £50.00 fine.

Formula

All competitions will start with poules, and all fencers will be promoted to the Direct Elimination stages of their grade/weapon.

Please note that the organisers reserve the right to change the formula to assist the smooth running of the competition and to improve the experience for the participants. This may include merging of grades or genders to facilitate a desirable competition experience.

Fencers who wish to enter more than one weapon are encouraged to do so, however may be asked to prioritise one weapon over another if necessary. Should a fencer be unable to compete in both weapons entered due to this, they will not be charged for the weapon they have conceded.

Equipment

All equipment should meet British Fencing Safety Guidelines. Fencers may be prevented from fencing if it is felt their equipment does not meet these guidelines.

Any equipment requests will be available for pick-up at the Newcastle Fencing Centre, and the £10.00pp hire charge will be invoiced along with event entries to your institution post-event. Any equipment not requested but needed on the day may be available.

Prizegiving

Prizegiving will take place at the conclusion of all weapons' direct eliminations.

Gold medals will be awarded to the winner of each weapon, grade and gender where there are competitors. There will be no silver or bronze.

Where grades or genders are merged, results will be extracted to determine winners accordingly.
