It’s time to hit the mats — the GB Students Judo team for the FISU World University Games 2025 is officially announced! 🇬🇧🔥
Three fierce and focused athletes will be representing GB Students this July in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, taking on some of the world’s best student judokas in what promises to be an epic display of strength, skill, and spirit.
🥋 Meet the Judo Team
- Summer Shaw – University of Birmingham
A 3 x British Senior Champion, 5x U21 European cup medalist, BUCS champion 2024 and Youth Olympic 3rd in 2022, Summer brings a wealth of experience to the team.
- Lucy Olivia Williams – Anglia Ruskin University
Lucy is set to make a strong impact on the international stage, already with a bronze medal at the European university games 2024, Commonwealth championships silver 2024 and British championship silver 2024 she will be looking to add to her medal collection.
- Tatum Keen – University of the West of England (UWE)
A 7x British champion, 2 x European open bronze medalist and Youth olympic games 5th place, Tatum rounds off this experience team aiming to bring medals home.
Judoka on a Mission 🥇
Team leader Katrina McDonald had high praise for her athletes dedication coming into the games saying “It has been a while since we have sent Judo athletes to the university games, and I am super excited for the three athletes that have been selected.”
“Keeping a high level of training whilst studying is commendable but in judo, as a combat sport, it is truly remarkable. This opportunity the athletes have worked really hard for, and I am delighted to be able to assist in this part of their judo journey.”
With eyes set on the podium, this trio of talented student-athletes is ready to go toe-to-toe with the best in the world. From gripping groundwork to explosive ippons, expect action, adrenaline, and pure passion from Team GB Students in Germany.
