Next week, a date with destiny awaits for Durham and Exeter in the BUCS Super Rugby final as the league’s top two face off for the ultimate prize.

Durham are looking to make history with the league and championship double, but twice runner up Exeter are aiming to put their championship woes behind them by taking the trophy back to the South West.

The top two were neck and neck all season up until the final round when Exeter lost to Cardiff Met to ensure the league title went to Durham for the second season in a row.

The tight competition didn’t stop there, with each team taking a win apiece in their 2021-22 matches. Durham won the first game 23-20 at Hollow Drift but in the return leg at Topsham it was Exeter who narrowly took victory by 20 points to 18.

It is clear to see why these two sides are heading to Sixways with four out of the top five top try scorers from this season being either Durham or Exeter players.

Of course, top of that list with 24, a record high in a BUCS Super Rugby league season, is the Bristol Bears headed hooker and Durham captain Fred Davies. Fred recently became the all-time top try scorer in BUCS Super Rugby history, but will we see him bag more on finals day?

The BUCS Super Rugby Final kicks off at 7.30pm, following the Women's National League Final at 4.45pm. Make sure to grab your ticket to the finals on Wednesday 13 April at Sixways Stadium here.

Whatever happens next week, this season has been one to remember.
