The Women’s Rugby Development Officer acts as the lead to develop women’s rugby across the University and to help implement strategies to enhance the Women’s Rugby offering at Warwick.

Our RDO needs to have the ability to create opportunities for the women’s game to be developed, which will include promotion of the sport where possible.

The RDO will build strong and effective relationships with club volunteers, constituent bodies and develop strong external relationships that you will use to support the growth and development of the club, improving the quality of experience for existing players and members whilst developing and implementing local strategies to grow the game.

The role will report to the Club Development Officer to assist in this work and work collaboratively with other RFU staff, regionally and nationally, to ensure effective and co-ordinated local delivery of Rugby.

This role will be 8 hours per week for a duration of 30 weeks, for the term October 2023 to April 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• The RDO will be responsible for the active recruitment and increased engagement of new university players

• A particular focus on supporting the club to build and sustain university players

• Build and maximize relationships, as well as liaise with local Rugby clubs, university clubs, and the RFU

• Develop and understanding of the strengths and areas for development within the universities’ Women’s Rugby offering and ensure this information is transmitted to the planning, funding, and reporting process, through the creation of the club development plans.

• Assist the clubs in developing and implementing strategies to scout for specialised coaches and workshop opportunities to have specific focus on beginners and novice players

• Opportunity to develop the media presence of the Women’s Club and their offering through relevant social media and communication outlets.

• Ensuring that the Womens Rugby offering is inclusive to all – Participation, Competitive, Diversity, Inclusivity

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

• Have great initiative to make key decisions to grow the project from the ground up

• Have excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships

• Have the ability to self-organise and manage your own diary in order to work to deadlines and achieve targets

Desirable:

• Rugby Coaching Qualification

• Previous Development experience

• Experience working within University Sport
