We’re looking for a team player who can deliver outstanding customer service to act as the main point of contact for all membership matters as Membership & Sales Administrator. Working as part of our proactive Business Development team, you’ll play a key role in assisting to raise the profile of our state of the art new indoor sports facility to new audiences and continuing to enhance our reputation.

Ravelin Sports Centre is an outstanding new public sports centre opening later this year in Portsmouth. The £57M sports centre’s superb facilities include a 25m 8 lane swimming pool, 175 station fitness suite, climbing wall, ski simulator, café and community orchard set in historic parkland.

You’ll play a key role in enhancing the University’s reputation for sport and establishing the University as one of the leading modern universities for sport within the HE sector. Responsible for contributing to the wider marketing programme, you’ll evaluate the impact of promotional activity and understanding our customers through market research. The role will involve a range of duties supporting membership sales and administration, as well as assisting in the organisation of events and open days.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively persuade, negotiate and influence others are essential. With a commitment to providing excellent customer service, you’ll have the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

We’ll also be looking for you to demonstrate experience of:

  • experience of sales/promotion in a range of environments such as over the phone, in-person or at events
  • working in sales or marketing in a customer focussed environment, with excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationship
  • using Gladstone or another leisure management system would be an advantage

To support the delivery of University/Departmental events, activities and functions the post holder is expected to work flexibly to provide services to a range of customers. As a maximum, the post holder may be needed to work 1-3 weekday evenings and 1 weekend day per month as well as specific peak times per service.
