Description

The University of Derby's Sport Development Team is looking to recruit a Sports Coordinator to help raise student engagement and impact student experience across a variety of programmes. The successful candidate will take a hands-on approach in supporting, organising and delivering a range of activities and initiatives designed to increase engagement levels in sport and physical activity amongst students and staff within the University community and to raise the profile of our services.

The role will be responsible for supporting elements of our participation programme, in particular the coordination of campus social leagues and Halls Sport events, ensuring effective delivery and high student satisfaction rates.

The Sports Coordinator will also provide marketing and comms support to the team to help drive engagement and increase participation in sport; creating and scheduling social media posts and campaigns, creating high quality marketing material, and liaising with other University marketing partners and departments to promote our opportunities, the benefits of sport and physical activity and the work of the organisation. 

The Sport Coordinator will be expected to support longer term planning of sport within the department and to undertake other sports projects and activities as directed by the Sport and Physical Activity Manager.

This position demands a high level of flexibility, excellent planning and organization skills, excellent inter-personal skills, a passion for sport and physical activity alongside a working knowledge of activity delivery and high level of competency in the use of social media.

Please note that the post-holder will be required to work flexible hours as and when required, including evening and weekend work. They may also be required to  travel outside of the university for work on occasion.

Please note this position is a fixed term role for a period of 12 months.
