Description
Working for the University of Cambridge you will find yourself surrounded by some of the most talented people in the world who, like you, are passionate about their field. As such, you will need to be hard working, positive and enthusiastic about helping other people to achieve their health, wellbeing and fitness goals.
As a Sports & Fitness Assistant, you will be primarily based in the fitness facilities and will be fundamental to the positive experience that we wish all members of the Sports Centre to receive. Working on the frontline, you are likely to be the first, and sometimes only, member of staff our customers interact with on a day-to-day basis. We expect you to be available and approachable to all members, allowing you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and skills which sets you, and therefore us, ahead of the competition. By creating and building professional relationships, the Sports and Fitness Assistant will be strongly positioned to enhance the customer experience, leading to better membership retention and broader engagement across Sports Service activities. Priority should be given to fulfilling the needs of the Gym and when required, assisting with operational duties, cover and events.
You will need to possess a minimum of a Level 2 Gym Instructor Award or equivalent.
The hours of work are not fixed but will be based on a shift pattern that includes early mornings, late evenings and weekend shifts.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 6 months in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
