JOB SUMMARY :

To lead the planning, organisation and delivery of the programme of national Table Tennis events. To lead the Competition and Events staff and volunteer teams. Significant weekend work, including overnight stays, and a flexible approach will be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage the Competition & Events staff team

• Plan, schedule and organise the national events programme

• Act as Event Operations Manager for the programme of national events, including the Grand Prix series, age-group National Championships and National Cups, Inter-regional Championships, the Senior National Championships, and England ‘home’ international fixtures, or delegate and support accordingly

• Lead administrative support for committee and volunteer -delivered events programmes, including County Championships, National Cadet & Junior Leagues, and English Leagues Cup Competition

• As required, support practical aspects of other Table Tennis England events, such as British League weekends and Schools programmes

• Draft and maintain current Prospectuses and Entry Forms for national programmes

• Lead delivery of player invitation, entry/ registration, eligibility and payment processes

• Lead practical processes for key event logistics, including venues, accommodation, appointment of technical officials and volunteer support, and physical branding

• Effective relationship management with key stakeholders, including member players and clubs, their parents and coaches, technical officials, equipment suppliers, event contractors and the ETTU/ ITTF

• Lead Health & Safety and risk management for all event processes and environments

• Act as safeguarding point of contact at events

• Maintain an event store of equipment, branding and supplies

• Forecast, monitor and manage individual event budgets

• Contribute to reviews and ongoing refinement of competition and event formats and regulations

• Represent the Competitions & Events department on relevant committees, including the Tournament Approval Panel

• To undertake other duties in furtherance of the Competition & Events programme, and as reasonably required by your Line Manager

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

• A proven track record in complex event delivery and demonstrable project management skills, ideally within a sports context

• Experience of managing a team of staff and volunteers

• Self-motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic, and capable of working independently

• Team player; work collaborative and successfully with events team and wider NGB team

• Attention to detail, and able to manage a demanding and varied work programme

• Must be able to work effectively with a diverse stakeholder audience

• Ability to be creative and use initiative; a solution-focused approach

• An analytic, numerate and disciplined thinker; excellent written and oral communication skills

• Competent in a range of technology platforms and packages

• Knowledge of table tennis in England is desirable, including structures and stakeholders

• A valid driving license is required, and experience of driving a van or large vehicle would be advantageous
