The football club aims to deliver and embrace Swansea University’s ‘Sport for all’ ethos that runs through our current 2020-23 Sport Swansea: Active University Strategy and will operate across all three core strategic pillars:

  • Engage – Introductory

The Football Performance Manager will focus on the Inspire strand of the strategy and will provide leadership and management across our men’s and women’s football and futsal performance programmes by developing the current provision and building on the success to date.

The post holder will:

  • Provide strategically driven coordination and support to all football and futsal performance programmes.
  • Successfully deliver on and develop the critical success factors required by performance programmes at Swansea University, which include Performance, Engagement, Recruitment & Marketing, Resources, Finance, and Governance. 
  • Plan and coordinate professional standards across the coaching and support provision for football & futsal performance programmes at Swansea University, mirroring that of a professional Club.
  • Advise and contribute towards the overall development of the Sport Swansea football and futsal programmes.

The person:

Experience:

  • Significant experience of strategic planning and directing a performance football programme.
  • Proven experience in the development of long-term performance coaching programmes.
  • Experience of domestic and international talent search and recruitment to proactively attract talented players.

Knowledge, Skills & Leadership Values:

  • Ability to lead, inspire and create a positive performance culture across a multi-disciplinary team and programme (athletes & coaches) to achieve performance outcomes.
  • An understanding of performance sport support programmes (sports science & medicine disciplines).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that build trust and respect, leading to mutually beneficial agreements amongst a range of stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours as necessary that align to the performance football and futsal environment.

Further information:

This is not a coaching position but there will be opportunities to coach football/futsal outside of the remit of this position if the successful candidate has a desire to do so.
