About BUCS
British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is a not-for-profit organisation, representing 165 HE institutions and delivering over 50 sporting competitions and several physical activity programmes to 2.4 million UK students. Our vision is to deliver exceptional student sporting experiences that inspire, develop and unite.
About the role
The Student Officer Network is designed to support any Sabbatical Officer from a BUCS Member institution. We are looking for three individuals to support the delivery of Student Officer Network meetings, providing opportunity for the voice of the students to play a significant role in shaping the direction of BUCS.
The Student Officers will also hold a position on the BUCS Advisory Group.
Tenure
The Student Officer will be elected for a term of 1 year.
Eligibility
To be eligible to stand for the position of student officer, you must be:
- An internally registered student at a member institution who is on a HE credit rated course and on a programme of at least 50% FTE, or:
- A sabbatical officer of an athletic union, sports union or student at a member institution at time of appointment.
Location
Meetings of the Student Officer Network are usually held either online or in conjunction with other events such as BUCS Conference, BUCS AGM or BUCS Nationals and Big Wednesday competitions.
Meetings of BUCS Advisory Group are held at various locations across the country.
Time commitment
Around 8 days a year. This includes four Advisory Group Meetings and four Student Officer Network meetings.

Applicants will be required to complete a nomination form.
Should you wish to stand for the position of Student Director too, you will also need to complete a nomination for that position.
Election Process
The Student Officer is a position elected through vote of BUCS members.
The nominees will be expected to attend and take part in hustings which will be held at the BUCS conference in July 2024 at the University of Warwick.
Elections will open from 17/07/24 @11am to 18/07/24 @11am following which results will be announced
