Description

We are inviting applications for the position of Chair on the new Performance Sport Advisory Group. This position will work closely with BUCS to coordinate the group, which will advise on the development and delivery of the Performance Strand of the BUCS Strategy.
 
Applicants should have a good understanding of performance sport, both within and beyond the higher education sector, and be driven to improve the provision of dual career pathways to students. Existing relationships with a range of senior executives at higher education institutions is desirable, but not essential.
 
Main responsibilities of the group will be:
  • Advising on the development and delivery of the Performance Sport strategy for BUCS
  • Supporting BUCS and the wider membership to achieve objectives set out in the strategy
  •  Engagement with and reporting to the Senior Manager’s Executive Group on the progress of the group against the strategy and its objectives, and collaborating with other strategy groups
  •  Champion the role of the HE sector in the performance athlete pathway
In addition, the chair duties will be:
  • Chairing Group meetings
  • Setting the agenda for such meetings
  • Calling up meetings in conjunction with the BUCS Head of Competitions & Performance
  • Reporting the Group’s activity to the wider membership
  • Representing the Group at the Senior Manager Executive Meetings
 
The term of the initial appointment will run through to July 2021, when the BUCS Strategy 2017-21 will expire. However, it is expected appointees will be given the opportunity to continue sitting on the group to continue work on the BUCS Strategy 2021-25.
