Description

British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is seeking to appoint up to two member representatives to help support, advise and contribute as part of the International Advisory Group (IAG). The IAG is not an operational group. The IAG endeavours and is integral to advise upon the effective delivery of the International university programme as part of the strategic direction of BUCS.

BUCS is looking to recruit members who possess diverse skills and experience with a range of perspectives from within the BUCS membership. The BUCS Non-Member Representatives will act as an ambassador for BUCS and GB Students.

We actively encourage members that may possess additional international-related experience or knowledge gained working at, for, or in collaboration, with associated stakeholders, federations or public body organisations. The international university programme is inclusive of international competition and educational programmes, projects and events for the benefit of students from across the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; of which BUCS is the National University Sport Association (NUSF).

Please note: to apply for this post you must not currently be employed at a membership institution.

There is no maximum tenue length that a Group member can hold their position for, Group members are able to continue as a member of the Group as long as they wish to remain involved. BUCS staff members carry no determined term limit as their position on the Group is linked to their role at BUCS. If due to staff restructures any of the listed BUCS roles change, the Group may determine whether their membership is still appropriate.

All representatives sitting on the Group shall be subject to the BUCS Code of Conduct.

Main Duties and Responsiblities 

  • To provide support and advise the BUCS International Performance Manager in respect of delivery and enhancement of the BUCS international programme
  • To provide support, advice and guidance that assures the long-term financial sustainability of the BUCS international university programme
  • To support, develop and prioritise student experience to provide enhanced provision for members, students and workforce relating to the BUCS international university programme
  • To receive reports on progress and items of note in relation to the BUCS international university programme
  • To consider applications for representative, technical and specialist nominations to FISU, EUSA and ENAS committees

Time commitment

  • IAG meetings per year: 4
  • Attendance at BUCS events related to international per year: 1-2
