Description
The gym coach will take a lead role in the day-to-day procedures of the gym, from opening and closing the site, cleaning, teaching classes and conducting programmes and Inductions. Reporting to the Operations supervisor and working closely with the wellness team to deliver services for the wider Kings community.
Skills, knowledge, and experience
- Knowledge of fitness facility procedures.
- Knowledge of the importance of physical fitness to individual health and wellbeing.
- Excellent communication skill across a variety of customer groups and ability to forge good relationships with a variety of departments or user groups.
- Experience of working with the needs of a broad range of gym members to ensure an inclusive environment.
- A strong grasp of information technology and Microsoft office skills including word and excel.
- Knowledge and experience and working in a higher education environment and an understanding of the needs of students. Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety regulations.
- Ability to manage own time and work independently or as part of a team.
Essential criteria
- Level 2 Fitness Instructor or above on REPS/CIMSPA.
- Commitment to continued professional development.
- Experience teaching group exercise classes.
- Experience working within the health and fitness industry.
- Experience working with a broad range of fitness users.
- Experience in a customer service environment,
- Knowledge of the importance of physical fitness to individual health and wellbeing Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to manage own time and work independently
- Ability to work early and late shifts, weekends, and to work flexibly across sites as needed.
Desirable criteria
- A good level of education (A-level or equivalent)
- First Aid qualified Additional group exercise qualifications: group cycle/spin and boxing/boxfit.
