Job Title: University of Glasgow Head Water Polo Coach

Position Type: Part-Time

Job Overview: Glasgow University Swimming and Water Polo Club are for a new Head Coach for our open and women teams. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced water polo coach to lead our competitive and recreational sides. Competing in the scottish tier of the BUCS league with both teams competitively always in the top 3 positions. We are looking for a coach who can develop players of all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced team members, and work with team captains to ensure a balanced approach to training and competition.

Key Responsibilities: · Coaching hours o Tuesday nights 8-10pm (competitive team) o Wednesday afternoons for BUCS matches, home and away o Wednesday nights 8.30-10pm (recreational session) o Sunday 8-10am (all members)

Coaching and Training: o Develop and implement comprehensive training programmes that cater to all skill levels. o Conduct training sessions 4-6 hours per week, focusing on skill development, strategy, and teamwork. o Prepare the team for competitive matches held on wednesday afternoons. o Attend matches where possible and deliver team tactics.

Player Development: o Provide personalised coaching to help players develop their skills and understanding of the game. o Encourage personal growth, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude among all team members. o Help beginners too develop the skills to progress and compete ·

Team Management: o Foster a fun and engaging atmosphere while maintaining a competitive edge. · Game Preparation and

Strategy: o Develop game plans and strategies tailored to the strengths and weaknesses of both our teams and opponents. o Lead the team during games, making tactical adjustments as necessary.

Administrative Duties: o Assist with scheduling and organising matches, tournaments, and travel logistics. o Ensure compliance with university policies and league regulations.

Qualifications: · Proven experience coaching water polo at a school, club, or university level. · Strong knowledge of water polo techniques, rules, and strategies. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to inspire and motivate players of all skill levels. · Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. · Availability for evening training sessions and wednesday afternoon games. · Relevant certifications in coaching and first aid are preferred.
