Description
The successful candidate will focus on providing the East London Phoenix Wheelchair basketball (ELP) with sports therapy and/or physiotherapy. They will provide court side cover for all East London Phoenix fixtures and tournaments. The job will involve evening and some weekend work. This opportunity provides an enthusiastic clinician with a broad breadth of experience. They will be supported by a clinical team including a head of medical services, osteopath, sports and soft tissue therapists and strength and conditioning coaches.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• To appropriately treat and rehabilitate injured ELP players
• Work closely with coaches and other support staff to ensure the maintenance and / or return to fitness of injured ELP players.
• Complete regular player screening and profiling to issue specific injury prevention education and prehab plans to ELP players.
• Manage the provision of appropriate medical cover for ELP training sessions and fixtures.
• Within the rules of professional confidentiality liaise with athletes, parents, coaches and other support staff.
• Maintain comprehensive medical notes for each player as required.
• Promotion of anti-doping practices in line with university expectation and guidelines
KEY ATTRIBUTES
Essential
• BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy with a minimum of 12months post-graduation experience
• Member of the CSP and registered physiotherapist with the HCPC/ member of The Society of Sports Therapists
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
• Valid first aid certificate
Desirable
• Have completed MSK and Orthopedic student rotations
• MSK and Neuro experience within the NHS setting
