Description

Duties and responsibilities

Health and Safety:

- Ensure the safety of all users and be available for first aid duties as necessary.

- Ensure the safety of the University facilities and equipment used within the programme.

- Report all accidents/incidents and possible hazards to the Duty manager and record as specified.

 - Ensure all certificates and risk assessments relating to the programme are present and correct.

- Ensure the operational maintenance and cleanliness of equipment

- Ensuring good working practices in accordance with health and safety procedures

People Management:

- Assisting with special Sport and Wellbeing events as required.

- Delivery/Instruction of programming of Wellbeing and Physical Activities.

- Advise on programme changes/feedback to improve upon existing offerings.

- Represent Sport and Leisure at University events as required.

- Cleaning duties as required.

- Teach scheduled classes

- Develop and maintain the highest level of contact and communication with customers so as to maximize customer satisfaction and business success.

- To assist the Fitness Leisure Supervisor in prioritising the fitness teams short and medium term activities in response to business requirements

Program development:

- Assist with special fitness and wellbeing events as required.

- Advise on program changes/feedback to improve upon existing offerings using initiative to assist in solving problems.

- Delivery/Instruction of programming of Wellbeing and Physical Activities.

- Deliver instruction on more advanced exercise prescription.

- Assist with retention programmes to retain interest of members and improve member relations.

- Advise on programme changes/feedback to improve upon existing offerings using initiative to assist in solving problems.

- Represent Sport and Leisure Services at University events as required.

Administrative Duties:

- Work with Property and Facilities to ensure facilities are maintained regularly.

- Prepare regular updates on CitySport for University community through Website and social media

- To administer first aid and complete all incident/accident procedures outlined by the university’s safety office.

Quality Assurance:

- Maintain quality assurance of equipment and building through agreed maintenance schedules.

- Follow fitness manufacturers guidelines for fault reports and maintenance requirements

- Cleaning duties of fitness equipment and studio accessories

- To carry out work duties which ensure compliance with CitySport’s operating procedures and emergency action plans.

- To attain the required standard of personal appearance and to wear uniform provided whilst on duty Skills and experience

- To be able to use own initiative and have excellent time management. (E)

- Share information and work effectively with team members to establish and support a positive working relationship and team environment. (E)

- To be able to complete regular usage reports. (D)

- To have some knowledge of MS Office (D)

Experience:

- Demonstrable experience of working within the leisure industry. (E)

- Experience in delivering class based and one to one programming. (E)

- Experience in working with special populations. (D)

- Previous experience of working in HE is not essential, but the post holder must be able to demonstrate that they have experience of carrying out a successful customer service role within a sport and leisure environment. (D)

Additional Experience/Qualifications:

- Relevant Sports Qualification for example: Gym Instructors Qualification

– minimum REPS Level 2 - First aid at work (E)

- An excellent working knowledge of group exercise activities and an understanding of health, fitness and wellbeing trends, including Kettlebells, TRX, HIIT (E)
