Rugby League 9s returns to the calendar in 2022-23! Aimed at new or novice players, the Championship & Trophy provides an opportunity for budding athletes to begin their Rugby League journey in a competitive but friendly environment.

Event Guide

Registration

Registration: 10:45am-11:15am

Your arrival time will determine the team number that you are assigned. First team to arrive/register will be allocated as ‘Team 1’, second team will be ‘Team 2’ and so on. These team numbers relate to the fixture running order for the event.

Teams must present a team sheet when registering on the day. A team sheet template can be accessed through Appendix 7 here.

Player Eligibility

All players must have joined their respective team on BUCS Play prior to the event. Only students who are listed as part of the team on BUCS Play will be permitted to be listed on the match day playing squad. All players must bring their students cards to the registration desk as proof of their student status.

Medical Provision

It is advised that every team should bring at least 1 qualified first aider with them. Teams are welcome to bring their own physiotherapist with them for pitch-side provision, but this is not a requirement. A central physiotherapist will be available.

Schedule

Arrival 10:45am - 11:15am
First Game 11:30am
Pool Games 11:30am - 3pm
Placing Games 3pm - 4pm
Grand Finals 4pm
Depart 4:30pm

Venue Facilities

PARKING

There is free parking available on-site at the Riverside Complex.

CHANGING FACILITIES / DISABILITY ACCESS

The on-site pavilion will be open and available for use by all competing teams.

Food & Drink

All competitors will be required to bring food and drink with them for the duration of the day. Water bottles can be refilled on-site, but there are no immediate catering facilities available.

Presentations

Presentations for both the Championship draw and the Trophy draw will be conducted on-site following the completion of all games.

Sustainability

The sustainability of our event matters to us, and we are taking steps to manage our environmental impact. This is what BUCS & the RFL are doing:

• Volunteers and match officials have been sourced from the local area as much as possible

• Staff and volunteers will travel by public transport and car shares where possible

• Refillable water bottles will be used
