LEAGUE AND KNOCKOUT REVIEW AND FUTURE RECOMMENDATIONS: SEASON 2023-24

PURPOSE

Post BUCS Conference 2023, BUCS published both the cost-of-living research and guidance on fines and sanctions to support the financial challenges our members may face throughout the academic sporting year. As we now move into term three and the culmination of the BUCS season, and based on a number of discussions with the membership at regional and national level, the BUCS Competitions and Performance team would like to bring together institutional staff of each region and nation to discuss the potential changing landscape of the BUCS competition framework (specifically the 24 sports and 41 programmes that encompass our league and knockout offer, please note we will not be reviewing our BUCS events within this process).

The impact of these discussions will inform the BUCS Executive if a further body of work needs to be undertaken to adapt our league and knockout offering.

AIM

To understand the current challenges faced by our members surrounding the delivery of our league and knockout offers, alongside working with the sector to establish how we can potentially adapt our programmes to support all stakeholders in future seasons.

We will also present on the current regional league and knockout delivery model we have in place, the London Universities Sports Leagues (LUSL), to aid in the understanding of how our regional framework operates.

AGENDA

A draft agenda (which is subject to change) for the consultation days can be found below. The team delivering the consultation will be two or more of the following: Head of Competitions and Performance, National Competitions Manager, Regional Competitions Coordinator and National Competitions Coordinator. If you require any further information please contact BUCS Head of Competitions and Performance Andy Gilvary ([email protected]).
