Description

The team last year came second in Division two BUCS and came second in the Conference Cup.

We hope through the above provisions and expectations that the team continues to develop and grow leading to another successful season with ideally promotion and a win at Varsity against Oxford.

Session schedule: 3 sessions per week, (e.g. Thursday evening, Sunday evening, Tuesday morning) and 1 match (e.g. Wednesday), subject to mutual availability and club needs.

Job Purpose:

To provide high-quality coaching to students of varying ability, fostering skill development, fitness, and competitive performance in basketball while ensuring a safe and inclusive training environment.

Key Responsibilities:

● Develop individual and team performance strategies.

● Prepare students for university competitions, BUCS fixtures, Varsity and other relevant events.

● Maintain equipment and ensure proper usage during training sessions.

● Collaborate with university sports staff and club committee members to align training with club objectives.

● Uphold health and safety, safeguarding and inclusivity standards, ensuring a welcoming environment for all participants.

● Stay up to date with coaching best practices and relevant qualifications.

Person Specification:

Essential:

● Experience coaching basketball, or playing basketball through multiple seasons.

● Strong communication, motivational and leadership skills.

● Ability to plan and deliver progressive training programs.

● Commitment to inclusivity and student development.

Desirable:

● Experience coaching competitive university teams/young adults.

● A track record of increasing participation and retention of members.

● A valid first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
