By Train

There are direct and regular train services to Durham Railway Station, from London and Edinburgh. Durham is around three hours from London and Birmingham, two and a half hours from Manchester, one and a half hours from Edinburgh and 45 minutes from York

There is a taxi rank available at Durham station; the journey to campus takes approximately five minutes and you can walk from the station to the city centre in ten minutes.

If using a taxi service and travelling directly to the accommodation check in, you can use either John Snow College, or the Igloo bar as your destination. 

If you are going directly to the Conference registration desk, please use the Teaching and Learning Centre as your destination. 

By Car

Durham city centre is only two miles from the A1(M). Leave the motorway at Junction 62 on the A690 Durham - Sunderland road and follow signs to Durham City Centre.

Parking

Free parking is available for Conference attendees at Howlands Car Park, which is a 5-10 minute walk from the Conference accommodation.

Please note, this is not Howlands Farm Park and Ride. Attendees are advised to refer to the Botanic Garden Overflow Car Park signs as a reference.

By Air

Durham is 30 minutes' drive from Newcastle International Airport and about 40 minutes’ from Teesside International Airport. Both have regular domestic and international flights. Durham is linked to Newcastle Airport by rail and metro.
