Are BUCS planning to hold any more sporting events this season?

The events that have been cancelled or postponed are listed here. Where an event is postponed, the current intention is to run the event at a later date this season. Further information relating to these events will be released as soon as possible and all decisions will be made before the 30 April.

What is happening with leagues and knockouts for the remainder of the season?

Following consideration of member feedback and discussions with Advisory Group, National Competitions Group and the Senior Manager Executive, it was decided to end the league and knockout season at Wednesday 18 March and to apply promotion and relegation where possible based on the tables at this date. See here for more detail.

What will happen to the BUCS Points table for this season?

What is happening with BUCS International events?

BUCS has received confirmation from EUSA that the European University Games (EUG) scheduled for Belgrade in July 2020 have been postponed for this calendar year. Further information is available on the EUSA Games pages of the BUCS website.

BUCS have received confirmation from FISU of the cancellation of several World University Championships between now and the end of July 2020. A full list and further information is available on the World University Championships pages of the BUCS website.

When we receive confirmation of event cancellations or postponements, we notify students and institutions who have been nominated or qualified, and post details on the relevant pages of the BUCS website, as detailed above.

What is happening with non-sporting events for the remainder of the season?

All events scheduled for March, April, May and June have been postponed until the next academic year. New dates will be released once confirmed. We are considering the options with regard to BUCS Annual Conference due to be held in July and will provide an update soon.

Will institutions be refunded for events cancelled by BUCS?

National sport:
We believe this is not relevant for BUCS sporting events, as we invoice institutions after the event. If, as a student, you have made a payment to your institution, please contact them to discuss a refund. If you have any questions, please contact info@bucs.org.uk.

International sport:
We are in contact with affected students. If you have any queries about this, please contact GBStudents@bucs.org.uk.

Non-sport:
Payments made by member institutions will be credited to their account with BUCS and offset against the next payment made. Payments by individuals will be credited to the card used for the transaction.

Will the team entry deadline for 2020-21 be extended?

We intend to open team entries as planned on 15 April 2020 but will extend the closing date to 20 May 2020.

Do members need to pay invoices from BUCS within 30 days?

Yes please. We appreciate that there may be delays while members adapt processes for the current situation and we will be especially supportive and understanding of members at this time. Nevertheless, cashflow is important to BUCS, especially at this time of the year, before affiliation and team entry fees are received in August.

We will be lenient with regard to penalties in this area if members let us know of delays. If you are aware a payment will be late, please let us know at finance@bucs.org.uk. In this case, please let us know when you estimate payment can be made, if possible.

How can members ensure they receive communications from BUCS?

As things change, we will provide updates through our website and email. To ensure you receive email updates, please create or activate your MyBUCS account and whitelist email-bucs.org.uk as a sender. If you have any questions about this, please contact website@bucs.org.uk.
