Re-Arranged Fixture Week 1

Cardiff Fall Short Of Their First Win Whilst The Title Is Blown Wide Open!

Whilst some of our teams took a well earned rest, both Cardiff sides were in action against north sides Northumbria & Durham.

MATCH 1: Cardiff Heartbreak As They Fall Short Of Their First Victory

At the stroke of half time BUCS Super Rugby fans began to believe that the time had come for Cardiff to claim their first win. Having scored two tries alongside a penalty by Josh Hodge, Cardiff entered the break with a 14-3 lead against home side Northumbria.

As the teams entered the second half, Cardiff extended their lead to 18 points, further raising hopes of a win for the visitors. However, Cardiff's third try seemed to spark Northumbria into action. Northumbria brought themselves back into the match thanks to tries from George Wacokecoke and Yaree Fantini. Whilst Cardiff scored their fourth try in the hope to clinch the win, Northumbria continued to press, securing a penalty and late try to nab the win 34-29.

MATCH 2: Cardiff Met Edge Closer Towards The Top Of The Table

With their second win in a row, Cardiff Met slip just one point behind current table toppers Bath. The side hosted Durham in what turned to be a battle against the elements with miserable weather conditions throughout. Both teams took time to adjust to the added challenge, entering the half level, 3-3.

Upon the restart, Cardiff Met took the game into their hands with tries from Luke Northmore and Jack Samuel in contrast to Durham's two penalty kicks. With Durham's lack of tries, the game finished with a Cardiff Met win, 15-6.
