The FA People's Cup returns to Higher Education

England's largest recreational 5-a-side football tournament returns with the University Category, offering your University and students the opportunity to compete for the ultimate prize, lifting the trophy at Wembley Stadium on FA Cup Final day.

Registration to host a 'University Category' competition at your University is now open - click here

Last year we worked with 65 Universities with an aim to create a unique opportunity for the recreational player to participate in a national competition and this year we'd love to see even more universities come on board to deliver 1st round competition and be part of the 2019 journey. The following outlines some essential information:

What is it?

It is a free to enter national 5-a-side knockout competition that gives the everyday person like you and me the opportunity to play in their version of the FA Cup. From your informal participant to people who have never set foot on a pitch, everyone can have the chance to join up with your friends to enter.

Who knows, you could be just like Filthy Fellas (De Montfort University), LBoro Rangers (Loughborough University) and Wockey FC (University of Sheffield) who came together as friends, had little to no football experience and played in rugby and hockey teams but went all he way to lifting the cup at Wembley.

What is required?

- Provide playing facilities and equipment (capacity to host 12 male and 4 female teams minimum - examples of how to deliver can be found in the FA People's Cup Guide presentation, right)

- Workforce - Tournament director, referees and first aid cover (sourced by the university)

- Availability to deliver the tournament between 11 - 24 February 2019 at a time of your choice

A support package will be provided by The FA to host first round competition which can be found in the presentation.

Who is it for?

The university category is bespoke to students of your university only, and as a closed category all participants will need to meet the following criteria:

- No BUCS Football or Futsal players registered for the 2018/19 season are permitted to enter in the University Male category

- Two BUCS Football or Futsal players are permitted per team in the University Female category

- Attend University of first round host

The University Category is a closed category so you will receive a private URL (provided by The FA) which you can share with teams to register for your competition once you are confirmed to host.

How to get involved?

To register your university to host the FA People's Cup in 2019, please complete the survey in full by clicking here. You will need to complete the survey in one go and cannot come back to complete it - a checklist of what you need to complete the survey can be found on the presentation. Deadline to sign up is Monday 5 November 2018 at 5pm.
