About Hockey

Hockey remains the second largest team sport in BUCS, with nearly 550 men’s and women’s teams playing in 7 tiers of the league structure. Teams compete in a league programme throughout the season from October to February. Each team’s position in the league pyramid determines whether they qualify for the Championship, Trophy or Conference knockout competitions - with the Championship and Trophy tournaments culminating with Finals at BUCS Big Wednesday.

The development of the BUCS Hockey Programme is led by Alicia Lauckner, BUCS Hockey Development Manager, who has a remit to work across the sport at all levels to facilitate it's development and deliver the Hockey in Universities Strategy. Working in partnership with the Home Nation Sport Councils, Hockey National Governing Bodies and key Hockey partners and stakeholders in the HE sector, we aim to provide the best possible university hockey experience. We provide development support and access to coaching, workforce and volunteering opportunities, participation programmes, NGB interventions and offers, disability sport initiatives plus funding and bursary opportunities.

Full information about the support Alicia can offer across a wide spectrum of activity can be seen here

The Hockey Sports Advisory Group provides technical and sport specific advice to the BUCS Office and the Hockey Programme.
