BUCS & Inclusion
The BUCS Inclusion Board was created at the beginning of 2017 to embed inclusive and accessible opportunities at the heart of the HE sector's activity.
Over recent years, BUCS members have worked to develop increasingly inclusive activities on campuses across the UK. Recognising that a number of barriers to sport & physical activity do exist for many students, institutions have sought to change the language they use, the range of opportunities they facilitate and ultimately the breadth off students who get active during their time at university.
Responding to member feedback and with the intent of working to ensure Higher Education is coordinated in sharing best practice, resources, training and activation opportunities, the Inclusion Board will draw together activity from across the sector.
The following member representatives sit on the Inclusion Board, with each bringing their own expert knowledge to the group's discussions:
Chair - Karen Rothery, Surrey Sports Park
Disability Sport Chair - Hannah Webber, University of Nottingham
Mental Health Chair - Dr Mikel Mellick, Cardiff Metropolitan University
Anti-Social Behaviour Chair - Tegan Pickles, University of West London
Discrimination Chair - Erin Walters-Williams, Royal Holloway University
Senior Manager Rep. - Phil Newman, London South Bank University
Sabbatical Representative - Adam Pratchett, University of Nottingham
Sabbatical Representative - Camille Koosyial, University of East Anglia
External Representative - Simon Blake, National Union of Students
BUCS Staff Representatives - Jon Brookstein & Emma Trunks
If you are interested in getting involved in any of the four member networks, have any questions about the Inclusion Board or any inclusion activity across Higher Education Sport, please contact Jon Brookstein or Emma Trunks.
