BUCS & Inclusion

The BUCS Inclusion Board was created at the beginning of 2017 to embed inclusive and accessible opportunities at the heart of the HE sector's activity.

Over recent years, BUCS members have worked to develop increasingly inclusive activities on campuses across the UK. Recognising that a number of barriers to sport & physical activity do exist for many students, institutions have sought to change the language they use, the range of opportunities they facilitate and ultimately the breadth off students who get active during their time at university.

Responding to member feedback and with the intent of working to ensure Higher Education is coordinated in sharing best practice, resources, training and activation opportunities, the Inclusion Board will draw together activity from across the sector.

The following member representatives sit on the Inclusion Board, with each bringing their own expert knowledge to the group's discussions:

Chair - Filippo Antoniazzi, Robert Gordon University

Disability Sport Chair - Hannah Webber, University of Nottingham

Mental Health Chair - Ian Braid, DOCIAsport

Diversity Chair - Tegan Pickles, University of West London

Senior Manager Rep. - Phil Newman, London South Bank University

Student Union Rep. - Sophie Williams, University of Worcester

Sabbatical Representative - BUCS Student Officer (TBC, post BUCS Conference)

Sabbatical Representative - SABB Officer (TBC, post BUCS Conference)

Policy and Influence - Ben Jessup, Sport and Recreation Alliance
