Competitions Group

The BUCS Competitions Group is a commissioned Group, reporting to the BUCS Board via the BUCS Head of Sports Programmes.

Remit
The Group shall act in an advisory capacity in respect of the BUCS sports programmes and competition related strategies.

Objectives
The objectives of the Group shall be:
•    To ensure the BUCS Sports Programmes supports the BUCS Strategy and its key objectives
•    To support, advise and make recommendations to the BUCS Head of Sport Programmes in respect of delivery of the BUCS Sport Programmes in relation to the BUCS Strategy
•    To engage the BUCS Membership with regard to BUCS Sports Programmes and competition areas relating to the BUCS Strategy
•    To receive reports on progress and items of note in relation to the BUCS Sports Programmes and competition areas relating to the BUCS Strategy
•    To consider proposals for change to the BUCS Sports Programmes and provide advice and make recommendations on impact and implementation
•    To consider proposals for change to regulations, which significantly impact on the running of BUCS Sports Programmes, and provide advice and make recommendations on impact and implementation
•    To collate feedback, and report on engagement, from BUCS Regions on relevant agenda items and proposed changes and present this to the Group
•    To bring items of note or interest to the wider attention of the Group
•    To consider, advise and make recommendations on other issues of relevance to the BUCS Sports Programmes and competition areas relating to the BUCS Strategy
•    To be aware of the function and remit of all BUCS’ networks and groups, and to engage and work with these groups where appropriate.

Composition
The Group shall be formed as follows:
•    BUCS Head of Sports Programmes
•    BUCS Sport Compliance, Governance & Competitions Manager (who shall also act as Secretary)
•    A representative from each BUCS Region
•    An elected Chair from the BUCS membership
•    A representative from the Senior Managers Network
•    A student representative, from the Student Directors Group

Individuals serving in these roles shall serve for as long as their BUCS Region continues to elect them to do so. Such Regional elections should take place annually. BUCS staff members will not be subject to a time limit. The Chair shall be elected at BUCS Conference and will serve a two year term. A term is from 1st August-31st July. The Group shall have the recourse to co-opt on a short-term basis in respect of specific areas of business.

All elected representatives sitting on the Group shall be subject to the BUCS Code of Conduct.

Frequency of Meetings
The Group shall meet 5 times per year.
