Disability Workforce Development

Educating your workforce is key to the successful delivery of any event or activity. 

The need for some level of inclusion training cannot be understated as this will equip your coach or volunteer with the knowledge and confidence to deliver that vitally important "positive first experience" and to keep them coming back for more.

IPC Introduction to Para Sport - FREE On-line course

The IPC are offering a free on-line course (6 to 8 hours of interative learning) open to everybody who wants to learn more about the IPC, The Paralympic Movement and the importance of classification. This course would be ideal for disabled student athletes, coaches, technical officials, event organisers or just an interested supporter of Paralympic Sport. Click here for details

British Blind Sport have created a series of sport-specific educational resources to assist those who are delivering sporting sessions with support and guidance on how to include people with sight loss. These are available to download from our Sport for people with a visual impairment folder on the hub.

Their resources will  help sports leaders, coaches and volunteers to:
-      Understand sight loss and specific eye conditions
-      Gain a better understanding of the needs of people with a visual impairment
-      Learn techniques and methods of adapting sport for people with a visual impairment
-      Learn more about the opportunities and competition pathways in VI sport

Continuing Professional Development

To assist you in the education of your workforce BUCS has produced a Disability and Workforce Development CPD Matrix (this can be downloaded to the right of this page). This highlights available training courses to enable people involved in sport (coaches, session leaders, development officers) to start to look into making sport more inclusive and enable more disabled studnets to participate in sport at any level.
