Get Involved

Working in partnership with British Water Ski & Wakeboard (BWSW) and Sport England, BUCS sport development team has supported the development of a specific offer for higher education in water ski and wakeboarding.

Fred Winter - WUC 2012 SKIBWSW has developed a range of nationally recognised coaching courses that are accessible to HE students and staff. These qualifications can be utilised to develop and enhance student and community based waterski and wakeboard clubs and provide additional opportunities to work in the UK and abroad – including various overseas tour operators who will be recruiting for summer 2015.

The following upcoming courses are available to attend:

  • 4th July - Whitworth, Lancashire

  • 24th October - JB Ski, Surrey

  • 14th November - JB Ski, Surrey

Students can currently gain 20% off the price of the existing coaching courses.

BWSW has developed a student case study to highlight the opportunities that exist for students to attend coaching courses and gain employment across the country and around the world whilst developing valuable employability skills. To view this case study please click here.

British Water Ski & Wakeboard (BWSW) have created two offers for universities interested in developing water skiing and wakeboarding opportunities to students.

Offer 1: 'On the Edge'

‘On the Edge’ is a fantastic adult participation programme that offers new adult skiers and riders the chance to get into a water sports discipline and develop their skills. It follows a step by step progression of skills through Bronze, Silver and Gold levels (similar to Cutting Edge) so it is easy to track your progress and see how much you have achieved.

There are 2 strands of the ‘On the Edge’ programme - Water Skiing and Wakeboarding. To find out more about 'On the Edge' click here.

Offer 2: Facilitating and brokering a relationship with a locally accredited site

If there is a site next to your university that you would be interested in using for either water skiing and/or wakeboarding then British Water Ski and Wakeboard can put you in touch with the right contact.

Please check the download document on the right hand side for BWSW focus areas across the country.

If you are interested in either of these offers please contact Amy Seaman, BUCS Development Manager for further information.
