LUSL Info header

The London Universities Sport Leagues offer competitive sports exclusively to university and college students in London.

LUSL was launched in 2012 to provide opportunities for more London students to partake in quality sport, more often. With the aim of filling the gap in the provision of Higher Education sport, LUSL targets the students who want to compete against other universities on a more regional level. Team captains primarily take responsibility for the running of their teams, which helps to develop their leadership skills and enriches their experience with HE sport.

33 London Institutions currently have between two and forty five teams participating in LUSL. The 2017-18 season saw 449 teams competing throughout the week in 14 different sports. This year we also offered several individual tournaments in Softball, Fencing and Taekwondo.

LUSL is unique from BUCS as it is able to offer not only male and female competition but mixed sports as well. Currently mixed competitions are running in badminton, hockey, tennis, ultimate, volleyball and water polo. LUSL is also able to offer sports that are not currently part of BUCS competition and 2013 saw the introduction of Handball, with Taekwondo added in 2016 and Softball in 2017.

The LUSL Management Group is made up of members of the BUCS London Region and BUCS staff to oversee the development and structure of the leagues. Representative members include the London staff and student Chairs, institution sports development and administration staff as well as student reps. If you have any questions regarding LUSL, please email Jason Michalski (LUSL Coordinator).
