England Netball Development

Get Involved

Working in partnership with England Netball and Sport England, BUCS Development Team has supported the development of a specific offer for higher education Netball.

There are lots of different ways for universities in England to develop netball, whether that be through being part of the University Netball Officer programme to providing Educations and training opportunities for staff and students. Continue reading to find out more on what this entails.

University Netball Officer (UNO)

A University Netball Officer (UNO) is a student volunteer that is empowered, supported and deployed by England Netball in partnership with their University to develop and deliver a programme of netball activities that encourage more students to keep active by participating in netball. The programme also aims to enable the UNO to develop their own employable skills ready for their future career in whatever their chosen field.

England Netball has carried out extensive research into motivations of participants and understands that people have different motivations, aspirations and needs in terms of netball. With this in mind, we will work with the UNO to share this and to help them identify the needs of their peers and the most appropriate programmes to establish that complement the existing provision in their institution.

What does the UNO package include for Universities?

- Official England Netball Kit provided for one UNO

- A training/ CPD bursary of £100 for one UNO in each University

- A netball equipment package

- Free Entry into England Netball’s annual SHOTS tournament

- Marketing collateral to promote the activities the UNO establishes within their University.
