Get Involved

University archery development has been successful in recent years, with 50 affiliated clubs (as of April 2017) and increasing attendance by archers at competitions. The work over the upcoming academic year aims to provide further support and resource to HE archery clubs.

The Archery GB Higher Education programme will include;

•    The formation of new university clubs

•    The continuation of the new HE archery development group

Throughout the programme Archery GB will work alongside clubs, universities, BUCS, Sport England and County Sport Partnerships.

Archery GB

Archery GB have a Student Ambassador programme, to provide student volunteers with an opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and experience to support their long-term career development and help the sport develop. To ensure student volunteers have everything they need to make the most of this opportunity, Archery GB will provide a programme of training, mentored support, resources, guidelines, equipment and branded clothing. The aim of the Ambassadors role is to grow and sustain participation in archery and ensure all involve have a positive experience of the sport.

Archery GB are looking to recruit, develop and support their future generation of volunteers!

Archery in the UK is powered by volunteers and it’s these volunteers who do so much to make sure archery is enjoyable and accessible. Archery GB would like to recruit more volunteers and we’re seeking expressions of interest from a wide variety of volunteers who are interested in becoming Archery GB Student Ambassadors.

 

You need to be a member of Archery GB, have a passion for the sport, a desire to share that passion and help others to enjoy the benefits of archery. You may already be volunteering in archery or want to get more involved in helping your university club develop.

 

The Ambassador programme focuses on providing student volunteers with a unique opportunity to develop their skills and experiences to support their long-term career development. To ensure our Ambassadors have everything they need to make the most of this opportunity, Archery GB will provide a programme of training, mentored support, access to an online hub, resources and guidelines, equipment and branded clothing. Training will include the opportunity to complete the Youth Sport Trust – Youth Sport Award to evidence Ambassadors’ learning, progress and achievements.

 

The aim of the Ambassador role is to help grow and sustain participation in archery within a university environment and to ensure all involved have an enjoyable experience. These are some of the ways you can get involved. You don’t have to do everything, just choose activities that suit your time availability: -

 

ü  Campaigning: Raise awareness of opportunities to try and take part in archery activities and events within your university.

 

ü  Club Activities: Understand the needs and wants of new and existing club members and organise appropriate activities e.g. Have a Go, beginners, coaching, club sessions, competitions and social events.

 

ü  Support: Ensure new and existing members have access to everything they need by being a point of contact and attending club activities.

 

ü  Media: Share your story and work as a Student Ambassador with Archery GB’s marketing team.

 

ü  Archery GB Courses, Competitions and Events: Help Archery GB promote, organise and deliver courses, workshops, competitions and events.

 

ü  National Events: get involved as a volunteer at a range of national events.

If you’re interested in becoming a Student Ambassador then please complete an Expression of Interest form and answer the questions either by sending a self-filmed video message or by writing your answers in the boxes provided. The Expression of Interest form can can be downloaded here and needs to return by 31 January 2019.
