Leeds Met Carnegie's Clean Sweep at the Badminton Individuals 2009 25/11/2009

Another successful tournament was held over the weekend of 20 – 22 November 2009 at University of Nottingham. With record entries again this year of 128 draws in all disciplines (Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles), it was the highest entry ever with the most number of matches ever played.

An outstanding achievement by Leeds Met Carnegie by winning ALL 5 disciplines, only one university has achieved this in the past which was Loughborough in 1994.

Leeds Met Carnegie’s Harry Wright won the doubles for the 4th consecutive year which has previously not been done before in any event, he has now won 8 titles. Beating Donna Kellogg’s previous record of 5 (Loughborough uni)

Lin Kenn (Leeds Met Carnegie) also went 1 better than last year, winning Gold in the Men’s Singles, whilst Anita Raj Kaur of Leeds Met Carnegie retained her singles and doubles title, Joanne Quay (Leeds Met Carnegie) was also successful in the women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
