University of Birmingham’s New Sports Centre Name Revealed 26/01/2016

The University of Birmingham has kick started the New Year by announcing the new name for the sports club which will open in summer 2016. It will be: 360 Sport and Fitness. The name has been selected for its short, memorable and inclusive connotations. Health, wellbeing and fitness form part of our daily lifestyle choices. 

The new sports club will feature a 50m pool with boom and moveable floor, a 200+ station gym, 10 metre high climbing wall, an arena style sports hall with 800 spectator seats, six activity rooms, a High Performance Centre and over 100 group exercise classes per week. Whether you’re a beginner or an elite athlete, these state-of-the-art facilities will offer the opportunity to be part of sport at the University of Birmingham. 
360 Sport and Fitness will be home to the University’s 53 sports clubs. The centre includes all the facilities the clubs need to support their training including a High Performance Centre with a full time team of sport professionals including sport psychology, sports nutrition and physiology. The new club also has an exclusive Performance Gym where clubs will be able to enhance their performance and wellbeing with strength and conditioning training.
The University of Birmingham have invested £55million into the new sport development, it is their biggest investment in sport to date and showcases how sport is an integral part of campus life. 
The new facility will be handed over to the University of Birmingham Sport in June 2016, where will be fitted with all the equipment and the staff will be trained. It will then open to members to use from summer 2016. Students who will be joining or returning to the University in September will be able to make full use of the facilities from Autumn 2016.
