Getting students active 09/12/2015

The University of Brighton’s recreational sports programme called Parklife is engaging more students, more often.

Brighton in focus 6

Organised by the university’s Sport and Recreation department (Sport Brighton) with support from Brighton SU, Parklife offers weekly turn up and play sports sessions, leagues and one off events. Operating across all University of Brighton campuses, the programme provides low cost activities to get students active. Big events that have taken place over the past year include a sold out colour run and just last month 500 students took part in the Parklife ice skating event at the iconic Brighton Pavilion. Full details of the current programme can be found at www.parklifeplay.co.uk.

Parklife started over a decade ago and has expanded and developed greatly with the help of Sport England Lottery Funding. What was once just an intramural football league is now hours of daily opportunities across a vast range of activities from netball to Quidditch. Some stats from the Programme are below.
