BUSA Regatta 2008 - Glasgow delivers and Durham dominates 06/05/2008

As over 40 different Universities, 600 crews and over 2000 athletes from BUSA Rowing made their way north to Glasgow this weekend for the annual BUSA Rowing Regatta - the forecast was looking bleak, but the wind of change on Saturday unfolded into gorgeous sunshine by the Monday and brought with it an overwhelming view from all on board that Glasgow had delivered

In a year of change within BUSA Rowing, some things remained reassuringly familiar.  Durham University took to the water, time and time again returning with a medal and no one came close to challenging the holders for the Victor Ludorum.

But it wasn’t all about Durham - others such as Southampton, Bristol, Newcastle, UWIC, Kingston, Imperial, Birmingham and the host team Glasgow (to name but a few) also had the crowd and commentators cheering loudly.

And the action wasn’t just on the water - invited guests from the Scottish Government, the local Council, the host Governing Body (SARA), GB Rowing and representatives from the University sector across Scotland were all hugely supportive of the event,  recognising the hard work and enthusiasm which had gone into the delivery and reflecting the views of the rowers that the friendly staff and fantastic rowing facilities had combined to make sure that this event will leave its mark on Glasgow for a long time to come.
