BUCS Swimming Short Course Day 3 08/12/2013

Spectators at the BUCS short course swimming championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield witnessed two scintillating world records on Sunday. Loughborough student James Hollis set the landmark time in the Men’s 200m butterfly of Paraswimming S10 category swimming the distance in a time of 2:14.36. Eleni Pappadopoulis from Manchester (university of) set a World Paraswimming record in the S10 category in the Women’s 200m butterfly in a time of 2:14.36.

Adam Barrett, Emma Wilkins and Sophie Smith (all Loughborough) also continued their fine form following on from their records on Saturday with further championship bests. Adam set new standards in the 50m butterfly (22.98) and 100m freestyle (48.04), while Emma Wilkins set hers in the women’s 50m butterfly (26.08) and 100m free (54.09). Sophie Smith set her records in the 200m IM, winning in 2:09.39.
Chris Steeples from Manchester Metropolitan also set a new BUCS record winning the 100m breaststroke in  59.36.
The Top Female performance of the championship went to Ellie Faulkner for her swim in the 800m freestyle whilst the top male performance was awarded to Adam Barrett for his swim in the 200m freestyle.
In the team event, Loughborough continued their dominance of university swimming taking home all three categories:
