BUSA SMALL BOATS HEAD 2007 03/12/2007

The BUSA Small Boats Head took place this weekend in Nottingham on what was a beautiful winter’s day.  The East Midlands Amateur Rowing Association in conjunction with Nottingham Boat Club ran a successful event on behalf of BUSA which saw an increase in entries from 75 in 2006 to 135 this year; it also saw the inclusion for the first time of the University of Durham Boat Club.

The conditions were, if a little cold, perfect for rowing and at the end of the First Division Durham and Imperial had managed a clean sweep in all the categories, Durham winning five and Imperial three.

The Second Division again saw Durham win three of the events whilst Loughborough, Nottingham and Imperial took the other categories.

UWE, Reading, Bristol, Newcastle, Birmingham and Nottingham Trent were the other medal winners and a special mention should go to Dundee who travelled for 12 hours to get to Nottingham and who finished 5th in the Women’s Doubles.

Once again a big thank you to all the volunteers that made the event happen and special thanks to Mark Cooke (NBC Captain), Geoff Nichols (East Mids. ARA), Paul Williamson (NBC, results) and Paddy Ibbotson (Umpires).
