Mental and physical wellbeing has never been more important. At Sportspark our ambition is to create a happier and healthier community both on and off campus.
This is an exciting new opportunity to lead the strategic direction of student and community sport and develop the untapped potential to play a larger role in building the reputation of UEA. We want to introduce new and innovative sports programmes to suit the needs of a post-pandemic world. A recent sports scholarship programme has rapidly grown to in excess of 100 scholars, linked to a Sportspark funded community excellence scheme through liaison with Norwich School’s youth sporting academy. Our focus sport programme is fledgling and needs someone with the experience to drive this forward, alongside supporting a 58-strong club programme and an award-winning innovative participation programme.
You will demonstrate high levels of business and financial expertise and lead and manage a large team of managerial, administrative and operational staff. You should be able to demonstrate our core values of collaboration, empowerment, respect and ambition and provide a positive and efficient working environment.
You will need to be a dynamic and forward thinking individual, with a passion for sport with the ability to embrace new challenges and motivate a team to drive projects forward. You must possess a degree in a business related and/or sport development discipline (or have the equivalent level of relevant qualification or experience), along with demonstrable experience of managing, leading and motivating individuals and teams through change within the sport and leisure industry. Knowledge of development experience in student sport or community sport and a sound understanding and management experience of safeguarding and child/vulnerable adult protection policies are also essential.
The University of East Anglia, Norwich, hosts the Sportspark, a world-class facility, built and developed by the University over the last 20 years. The Sportspark is one of the largest and most comprehensive university sports complexes in the UK with 1.4 million visits per year and an annual turnover in excess of £4.5m. The cohort of over 16,800 students and 3,700 staff add to a very varied, dynamic and demanding programme. Working with our local Community Sports Partnership (Active Norfolk) and a myriad of other campus and community partners, we play a pivotal role in supporting the city of Norwich and its surrounding regions.
